October Journal Prompts
October: 31 Days of Coming Back to Yourself
As the seasons begin to change, there is a quiet invitation to turn inward, creating space for reflection and a gentle return to ourselves. I created these daily prompts for the month of October to support you in slowing down, listening inward, and reconnecting with yourself as you move through this season.
October 1
As you enter a new month, what are you ready to approach differently? What would you like October to feel like, rather than simply what would you like to accomplish?
October 2
What has your body been trying to communicate lately that you may have been too busy, overwhelmed, or distracted to hear?
October 3
The trees do not question whether they should hold onto their leaves. What are you holding onto because letting go feels uncertain, even though part of you knows it may be time?
October 4
What feels heavy right now? If you did not have to fix it today, what would it feel like simply to acknowledge that it is heavy?
October 5
Where in your life are you asking yourself to push through when you may actually need softness, support, or rest?
October 6
Think about the version of you from one year ago. What has she learned, released, or grown into that she could not yet see coming?
October 7
What is something you are learning you no longer need to prove?
October 8
Where have you confused being needed with being loved? What might your relationships look like if you did not have to earn your place in them?
October 9
What expectations are you carrying that may not actually belong to you?
October 10
What is one small ritual that could help your nervous system recognize, I am allowed to slow down here?
October 11
What are you grieving right now, even if it seems small, complicated, or unconventional to call grief?
October 12
Where are you noticing change in your life? What part of you welcomes it, and what part of you wants everything to stay familiar?
October 13
What does your protective part believe would happen if you stopped being responsible for everyone for a moment?
October 14
What have you outgrown but continue returning to simply because it is familiar?
October 15
Halfway through the month, check in with yourself: What do you need more of? What do you need less of? What can remain exactly as it is?
October 16
What does rest mean to you when it is not something you have to earn through productivity?
October 17
What would become possible if you trusted yourself 10% more?
October 18
Think about something that did not work out the way you hoped. Without forcing yourself to find a silver lining, what did the experience teach you about what you need, value, or want?
October 19
What parts of yourself tend to become quieter when you are focused on taking care of everyone else?
October 20
Imagine setting down one responsibility that was never truly yours to carry. What are you putting down?
October 21
As the days become shorter, nature begins turning inward. Where might you benefit from turning inward rather than continuing to search outside yourself for an answer?
October 22
What goal are you working toward because you genuinely want it? What goal are you pursuing because you think you should want it?
October 23
If your next chapter did not have to look impressive to anyone else, what might you choose?
October 24
What is something beautiful about the life you have right now that an earlier version of you once hoped for?
October 25
What are you learning about the difference between discomfort and danger? Where might your nervous system still be treating the unfamiliar as unsafe?
October 26
What would it look like to create goals from a place of curiosity rather than criticism?
October 27
Choose one goal you have for the remainder of the year. Instead of asking, “How can I make myself do this?” ask, “What support would make this easier for me?”
October 28
What are you making space for as you let go of old expectations, relationships, habits, identities, or versions of yourself?
October 29
What feels alive in you lately? What has been creating even small moments of curiosity, excitement, peace, creativity, or connection?
October 30
Imagine entering November without needing to reinvent yourself. What would you like to gently carry forward from this month?
October 31
October has been a month of watching nature remind us that letting go is part of living. What are you leaving behind this month? What are you carrying with you? And what are you willing to remain open to, even if you cannot yet see what comes next?
